What does GKCSA Intergroup do?
Our area’s intergroup exists to serve the local groups and is involved in several service activities. It helps organize and plan regional retreats (semiannual in Wichita, KS), one day retreats (KC Wildfire), and maintains services that benefit the entire region like our collective approved literature library, helpline for inquiring Sexaholics (816-286-4434), and website at https://kansascitysa.org/.
When does GKCSA Intergroup meet?
The second Saturday of each month at 10am on Zoom. The link for the meeting is sent out beforehand to the Kansas City SA email listserv. If you’re not receiving those updates, please Contact us to be added to the list.
How can I get involved?
You can serve on intergroup in a number of capacities. The first step is to simply attend meetings. You don’t have to be an elected trusted servant to attend intergroup meetings, have a voice, and vote on issues that come up in the meeting.
You can also serve as your local group’s Group Service Representative (GSR). GSRs attend intergroup meetings and report on how their group is doing. They also bring back news from intergroup to their home group.
Finally, you can serve on intergroup as an elected trusted servant. The following are the elected roles on intergroup:
Chair – leads intergroup meetings
Treasurer – manages intergroup finances and bank account, pays rent for some local meetings, and checks the intergroup P.O. Box
Secretary – takes notes at intergroup meetings, sends out email updates to the GKCSA email listserv, updates local meeting list, and maintains electronic documents in the cloud
Phone line coordinator – answers texts and returns voicemails to the Kansas City Sexaholics helpline
Webmaster – updates the Kansas City website and responds to email inquiries
Literature coordinator – maintains and delivers literature and coins to local groups
Regional Intergroup Representative (IGR) – represents our region at the regional assembly
Elections for these roles take place at every December meeting.
